The local church has been referred to as an “embassy of heaven”. That means, wherever and whenever the local church gathers, something extraordinary is happening. The regular gathering of the body of Christ is a demonstration that God’s pronouncements are true. This gives us hope because all of God’s pronouncements are swelling in crescendo to His greatest pronouncement, and that is the return of the Lord Jesus in His glory. This is the hope of local churches around the globe!
Both, the Church global (all Christians for all time), and the church local (your assembly), are to be cherished. We are to study what the Bible has to say about them and participate in such a way that honors biblical mandates pertaining to the church. Tim Challies has served for many years as a pastor in a local church. He loves the local church and has written and spoken about the glorious Body of Christ. Through Ekklesia, Tim will help us reflect on how God has told us we are to think about His Son’s Bride, the church.
